Historic Election for Stirling

Local people are being urged to make history on May 3rd by electing the first ever Green Councillors to Stirling Council.

The elections will be held under a fair voting system and the Greens have a strong chance of entering the Council for the first time to change the 'business as usual' politics at Viewforth.

At the last Council elections in 2007 the Green candidate was just a few percentage points away from taking a council seat in the Dunblane & Bridge of Allan ward. Then, at last year’s Holyrood elections Greens improved again, coming 4th locally in the regional vote ahead of the LibDems and are now hoping to build on this with electoral success in May.

Leading the candidates is Mark Ruskell, the former Green Party MSP for the area who is now standing for Dunblane and Bridge of Allan ward. Mark said, "We've been out talking to people on the doorsteps throughout the winter and there's an appetite amongst many voters for a change. We have a real chance in both Dunblane & Bridge of Allan and Castle wards to elect Greens for the first time, so if you want to make history, then make us your first preference vote on May 3rd."
